POSITION TITLE: Hunger Relief Services Food Rescue Driver ASST.

 

TYPE: Part-Time I Hourly

REPORTS TO: Hunger Relief Services Manager

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and Family Pathways pay structure

ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION: Family Pathways works with communities to develop supportive, caring relationships to help people meet their basic needs. This is done by offering a safety-net of essential services.

 

POSITION OBJECTIVE: This position is responsible for food rescue of the food shelves. This position will be the assistant to the full-time food rescue driver helping to pick up of food donations from businesses each day, transporting them back to the food shelf, and recording the weights. This position will assist the driver in loading donations or other food that needs to be transported to other food shelf locations.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Employee Development: 20%

  • Maintain DOT Certification
  • Stay up to date on Civil Rights Training and Safe Food Transport Certificate
  • Stay up to date and comply with program, organizational and state/federal policies

 

Site Contact/Advocacy: 20%

  • Assist in keeping in contact with our donation sites and our food shelf coordinators, making sure they are ready for the pick up being done and delivery of that food
  • Keep and promote client confidentiality

 

Maintenance/Administrative: 45%

  • Assist in making sure that the vehicle is routinely checked for fluids, tire pressure, and routine maintenance
  • Assure a maintenance record on the vehicle is kept and updated
  • Maintain a log sheet of beginning and ending mileage from each pick up site to our food shelves
  • Keep vehicle clean and free from debris
  • Maintain communication with Food Shelf leadership, food shelf coordinators, and other agency staff
  • Flexible and available to help at locations as needed; especially Mobile Food Truck
  • Informing self on directions and specifics on each retail store location
  • Follow and maintain food safety at all times, including but not limited to food handling, storage, and temperature tracking

 

Marketing/Community: 15%

  • Help develop and maintain positive community relationships with existing businesses
  • Attend community events to inform community members of services and to learn more about individual community needs
  • Follow retail store rules for pickups; especially being timely and clean

 

Required:

  • Ability to work independently and with little supervision
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Valid and current Driver’s License and current DOT Health Card
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Position requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, close vision, ability to adjust focus and see color
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
