POSITION TITLE: Development Associate

TYPE: Full Time | Exempt | Salaried

REPORTS TO: Director of Development

SALARY: Commensurate salary with experience and Family Pathways pay structure

ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION: Family Pathways works with communities to develop supportive, caring relationships to help people meet their basic needs. This is done by offering a safety-net of essential services.


POSITION OBJECTIVE: This position is responsible for processing, reconciling and reporting donation transactions for the organization, gift acknowledgements, and grants. This position supports and collaborates with the Development/Marketing team, Accounting Assistant, Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for department support volunteers. This position plays a key role in the managing and maintain donor database, grant tracker and prepares fundraising reports to support donor cultivation. This position is also responsible for the planning and execution of program fundraising events and support of major fundraising events. Provide administrative support to the Development Director.



Donation Processing (50%)

  • Oversee and manage timely and relevant donor correspondence, including gift acknowledgement and annual giving
  • Work in partnership with accounting department to receive and process cash, check, credit card, stock, and in-kind donations
  • Serve as Abila Fundraising 50 database administrator to perform activities to maintain accurate data and donor information
  • Prepare donation/gift reports
  • Create mailing lists for newsletters, special events, etc.
  • Support, train and supervise event volunteers
  • Maintain donation processing documentation
  • Track donor and volunteer information in databases and other formats

Special Events (30%)

  • Lead and coordinate program fundraising events, including goal setting, event logistics, revenue/expense tracking, sponsorships and volunteer coordination and management
  • Secure event vendors
  • Support sponsor communication and auction solicitation
  • Participate as a planning team member for major fundraising events but not limited to event registration tracking, auction supports and volunteer coordination


Grants Coordination (10%)

  • Manage an annual grants strategy utilizing a calendar and tracking mechanism, including prospecting, reporting, and research



Administrative (10%)

  • Provide administrative support for Director of Development as assigned
  • Collaborate with accounting department to assist in audit preparation
  • Other duties as assigned





§ Associate’s degree or higher PLUS 2-3 minimum years of experience in donor data management or in non-profit development department

§ High proficiency in a fundraising and donor management software system (Fundraising 50 preferred)

§ High proficiency of Microsoft Excel as well as general proficiency in Microsoft Office products

§ Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; excellent listening skills

§ Strong skills in and solid understanding of donor engagement and stewardship strategies in relationship to organization-wide strategic plan and guiding principles

§ Superior project management skills and ability to organize information

§ Adaptable, critical thinker enthusiastic about collaboration

§ High attention to detail and flexible in nature

§ Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines

§ Ability to work with sensitive and/or confidential matters

§ Position requires ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, close vision, ability to adjust focus and see color

§ Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.



  • Expertise with Abila Fundraising 50
  • Experience with Adobe products or design software
  • Ability to work in various social media platforms in relation to development
