POSITION TITLE: Domestic Violence Services Director

TYPE: Full - time | Exempt

REPORTS TO: CEO

SALARY: Commensurate to experience and organization’s salary band

SUPERVISED PERSONNEL: Manager of Community Advocacy, Manager of Men’s Program, Shelter Manager and all DV/SA staff

 

ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION: Family Pathways works with communities to develop supportive, caring relationships to help people meet their basic needs. This is done by offering a safety-net of essential services.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

This Director position is responsible for the overall administration and leadership of the organization’s domestic violence and sexual assault programs, including the development, organization and implementation of domestic violence, sexual assault, shelter, prevention, outreach and batterer’s treatment programs. The Director position will provide administrative oversight of grant development and compliance with federal, state, and local statutes, ordinances, and regulations, as well as state and internal policies and procedures; fiscal management and program coordination, and services to clients. This position represents the organization in public arenas and promotes the mission of the agency in the community and throughout the state. Further, the Director carries out duties related to DV/SA personnel development, recruitment, training and supervision of program management and staff teams.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

Program Development & Management (35%)

  • Oversee planning, development, and implementation of agency programs, in accordance with agency strategic planning and current best practices in direct service, advocacy and prevention, including:
    • The 24-hour crisis line
    • Domestic violence shelter
    • Community advocacy
    • Support groups
    • Men’s program
    • Education
  • Monitor progress to outcomes as identified in strategic and annual plan, and evaluate on impact, efficacy and cost in program evaluation
  • Modify and adjust programs, processes and/ or infrastructure where necessary to assure successful outcomes
  • Stay current with new research and trends in the field to inform program development, execution and improvements
  • Develop and execute training for shelter and community programs

 

Personnel (25%)

  • Ensure that program staff and volunteers provide high quality, fair, culturally relevant, accessible services to victims of abuse; similarly ensuring that the agency mission and philosophy are followed
  • Foster a team culture that is consistent with the organization’s guiding principles
  • Provide staff with needed guidance, supervision, and training in their responsibilities
  • Ensure program staff follow agency policies & procedures
  • Conduct regular planning meetings with program staff
  • Ensure staff meet their annual training requirements
  • Monitor and evaluate job performance of program staff and volunteers
  • Ensure that all paperwork, program records, and documentation are maintained satisfactorily and consistently by all staff
  • Work with agency Volunteer Coordinator in managing program volunteers

 

Administration (25%)

  • Participate in the organization’s annual and strategic planning.
  • Work to ensure the organization’s mission and vision are pertinent and practiced throughout domestic violence program department.
  • As a part of the leadership team, act as an internal consultant to bring attention and solutions to organizational priorities.
  • As it pertains to your department, cooperate with CEO and finance staff in annual budgeting and planning in alignment with organization’s strategic plan and annual priorities.
  • Coordinate grants and contracts related to domestic violence department programming, including prospecting funding opportunities, application process, monitoring progress to outcomes, data management, budget supervision and timely reporting.
  • Monitor, update and implement systems and procedures necessary for efficient and impactful operations and compliance with local, state, federal and funder requirements
  • Communicate success and outcomes.

 

Community Relations (10%)

  • Represent agency through participation in community groups, networks and coalitions as designated by the CEO
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Development Department to steward relationships with existing and potential funders and partners
  • Promote the organization in a professional and positive manner
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all systems partners

 

Other (5%)

  • Provide advocacy-based counseling, support, and other assistance to victims of DV and SA
  • Willing and able to take on-call shifts for DV and SA services, including 24-hour hotline
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Required:

  • BA/BS in social services or related and 4 years of experience in DV/SA field
  • At least 2 years of management experience

 

Additional:

  • Experience providing advocacy to victims of DV and SA within a DV/SA agency
  • Sensitivity and knowledge of the issues regarding domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Must believe in trauma informed model and be committed to the agency’s mission of ending all forms of interpersonal violence
  • A leader and team player committed to advancing vision, mission, values and team’s guiding principles
  • Demonstrated passion to work with diverse and/or low income populations, including those experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, domestic violence, addiction and/or mental illness.
  • Ability to view domestic violence holistically and offer supportive services to all involved: victim, children and perpetrator.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information and confident matters
  • Ability to plan, direct and review the work of others with confidence and clarity
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; excellent listening skills
  • Organized and works well under pressure and manage multiple projects/deadlines
  • Must have a dependable vehicle, a current and valid MN state driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Position requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, close vision, ability to adjust focus and see color
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to50 pounds and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency with social media including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
